Radios stolen from Aberdeen Fire

The Aberdeen Fire Department is looking for one more radio stolen from a fire truck May 29. One of the two taken has already been returned by a woman who bought it from a man when she noticed “Aberdeen Fire” engraved on the bottom of the radio.

The woman returned the radio on Monday, explaining a man approached her as she was leaving a convenience store on the 600 block of West Market Street about three days before, Aberdeen Police Capt. John Green reported.

She said the man told her he had items for sale, including the stolen portable radio. She paid $50 for it and the man left on his bicycle. When she returned the radio to AFD, they repaid her $50.

The woman described the man as about 20 years old, about 5-foot-7 with a slim build and dark hair about collar-length.

He was last seen wearing jeans and a dark hooded windbreaker, with the hood over his head. The woman said he had a bad complexion, Green said, and no facial hair.

His clothes were described as baggy and dirty, and he left on a primer gray colored BMX-type bicycle.

Anyone with information should call the Aberdeen Police Department at 533-3180 or the tip line at 538-4450.
