A woman was briefly trapped inside her vehicle this morning when she was struck by a car, rolling her SUV over onto its roof.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of East Market and H streets, right in front of the Aberdeen Police Department headquarters. The woman driving the SUV, a white Ford Explorer, struck a woman driving a white 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo. The woman driving the Volvo, Avis French, 56, was unharmed but shocked.
“It’s like all of the sudden she was right there,” French, a resident of Hoquiam said.
Police shut off the intersection as firefighters from the Aberdeen Fire Department pulled the woman out of the Explorer. They placed the woman on a support board, and took her to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. Officials did not release the type of injuries the middle-aged woman had, but she was able to talk to firefighters as she was being removed from the vehicle.
