MONTESANO — Sheriff Rick Scott says that staff cuts and an increase in concealed weapons permit applications means that he has to cut the hours his administration office is open.
Starting March 1, the office hours in Montesano will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office currently opens at 9 a.m., but the change means they’ll close an hour early.
“We have experienced staffing cuts and a great increase in applications for concealed pistol licenses and pistol transfers that we cannot keep up with,” Scott wrote in a memo to the public.
“These documents must be processed in a timely manner and this change should help us meet the required deadlines. These changes only apply to the administrative offices in Montesano and do not apply to the Corrections Division or the Criminal Division.”
