SPMC offers information on insurance exchange, strokes

Summit Pacific Medical Center is offering another free educational town hall on the Affordable Care Act and a free seminar on strokes and what to expect at the hospital.

On Thursday, Sept. 19, SPMC’s Chief Financial Officer Will Callicoat will present information and lead a discussion on new regulations on health insurance, how they will affect different people, how to avoid IRS penalties and how the state’s Health Insurance Exchange will work when open enrollment starts Oct. 1. The event is scheduled from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Elma Timberland Library.

On Friday, Sept. 20, Fawn Ross, ARNP Stroke/Telestroke Coordinator at Providence St. Peter Hospital, will share information on what a stroke is, who they affect, how they affect the body and what people can do if they witness someone having a stroke or have one themselves. She will also discuss what to expect in the emergency room and demonstrate the Telestroke robot used at facilities like SPMC. That presentation starts at 4 p.m. in the SPMC conference room.
