State Patrol still investigating Highway 12 crash

The State Patrol still is investigating what caused a pickup and sedan to crash Wednesday afternoon on State Route 12 near the intersection with Keys Road, about five miles west of Montesano.

The collision occurred about 1:20 p.m. and involved a 1999 Ford F250 driven by a 68-year-old Elma man, and a 1998 Dodge Neon driven by a 56-year-old Malone man, who was taken with a 59-year-old woman passenger to Capitol Medical Center in Olympia and treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

A State Patrol memo said the truck was northbound on Keys Road at the intersection but the cars collided in the far lane of the highway. The memo said the cause was failing to yield the right of way by the driver of the truck and that charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
