Stolen Elma pick-up involved in high-speed chase

Shelton Police Department officers, a Mason County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team and a King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter all failed to find two suspects who fled after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle from Elma on Thursday.

A Shelton Police officer stopped the 2008 Dodge pick-up after a report of reckless driving. It stopped for a few seconds and then sped off, police reported. As the officer pursued the vehicle, he was informed that it was reported stolen from Elma. The driver of the pick-up rammed a pursuing police vehicle and allegedly attempted to run over an officer before losing control and crashing into a fence and several parked cars, police said.

The driver and passenger fled on foot and a Mason County K-9 team responded. A third occupant was detained at the scene.

A King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter also responded to assist in the search for the two fleeing suspects.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
