Fall brings rain and annual budget workshops at Aberdeen City Hall.
Several departmental workshops on the 2014 budget, open to the public, will be held in October and early November. They will be held either in the committee room or in the larger city council chambers, depending on the size of the crowd, city Finance Director Kathryn Skolrood said Wednesday evening.
Here are the currently scheduled workshops, to be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays:
Oct. 16: general overview, police, human resources, finance and pensions
Oct. 23: (before the council meeting) building and community development
Oct. 30: emergency medical services, parks
Nov. 6: public works
One more workshop may be needed either on Nov. 20 or in December to cover any city entities not mentioned here, such as the Fire Department. Skolrood noted that the last city council session of the year, when the budget has to be voted on, falls on the evening of Christmas Day. So it is likely that meeting will be rescheduled for Monday evening, Dec. 30, she said.
