Truck fire leads to backup, collision

No injuries were reported when a truck caught fire on westbound Highway 12 outside Montesano Thursday evening, but two people were sent to the hospital after their cars collided in the ensuing backup.

The Washington State Patrol was on the scene for nearly three hours after the truck initially caught fire around 5 p.m. Two cars collided near Devonshire Road, and the drivers were sent to Grays Harbor Community Hospital, but their names and the extent of their injuries were unknown as of press time.

Westbound Highway 12 was blocked just before the Devonshire Road exit while police worked and cleared the vehicles, and the scene was clear by 8 p.m.
