The empty trailer of a log truck rolled over and partially blocked U.S. Highway 101 Saturday afternoon when the driver apparently tried to avoid colliding with a car that had failed to properly merge about four miles south of Cosmopolis at the intersection with State Route 107
Tthe State Patrol reported the 25-year-old driver of the truck was trying to avoid crashing into a 2008 Mercury Milan that had turned into the truck’s lane from the Highway 101 southbound merge lane with SR107.
The car was driven by 72-year-old Issaquah woman who was cited for failing to yield the right of way, the State Patrol said.
The 1993 Kenworth was heading southbound as well, and although the truck driver avoided a collision with the car, the force of braking caused the trailer to spin 360 degrees before coming to rest off the road, the State Patrol said.
The woman’s car was not damaged and neither driver sustained serious injuries.
