In a twist, stabbing victim arrested for molestation

The victim in a stabbing in Ocean Shores on Tuesday was arrested Thursday on suspicion of molesting a 4-year-old girl, Ocean Shores Police said.

The 31-year-old Ocean Shores man was arrested at the police department Thursday afternoon after a warrant was issued charging him with first-degree child molestation.

He is being held in Grays Harbor County Jail with bail set at $50,000.

On Tuesday, he had been hospitalized after an acquaintance confronted him in a trailer in the 500 block of Duck Lake Drive Northeast, sprayed a chemical in his face and then cut him several times with a sharp object, police said.

After the attack, he was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital and later flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he was treated for his wounds and released.

James Lemar Griffin, 23, has been identified as the suspect in the attack and a warrant for first-degree assault has been issued for his arrest. It is believed that Griffin has fled Grays Harbor, a police report said.

He is described as a black man, 6-feet-2 and about 225 pounds. Anyone with information on Griffin’s whereabouts is asked to call the Ocean Shores Police Department at (360) 289-3331.
