Vehicle thefts prompt warning in East County

The Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents in the East County area to be on guard after a recent spate of automobile thefts.

On Friday, on the 1100 block of Monte Elma Road near Elma, a resident reported that someone had stolen a dark blue Mazda pickup sometime during the previous evening. It appeared that the suspects pushed the vehicle out of the driveway and then were unable to either drive or tow it away, a press release issued by department said.

On Monday morning, deputies responded to two different residences inside Satsop because of a vehicle theft and a attempted vehicle theft. In the 500 block of Market Street, unknown suspects attempted to steal a 1985 Chevrolet Blazer from a driveway.

The suspects punched through the ignition and then towed the vehicle out of the driveway. They were not, however, able to unlock the steering wheel and abandoned the vehicle in the roadway.

Shortly thereafter, someone stole a gray Chevrolet pickup from the 300 block of Fourth Street.

Anyone with information pertaining to the recent thefts is asked to call the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office at (360) 249-3711.
