Vehicular homicide charges likely after head-on crash

A 37-year-old Puyallup woman has been charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence after she lost control of her vehicle and struck a car head-on in the opposing lane, killing her passenger.

The wreck happened at 11:20 p.m. near Oakville on State Route 12 on the Mox Chehalis Bridge. A State Patrol spokesman said the driver was allegedly intoxicated was traveling eastbound when she crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle head-on. The 75-year-old Aberdeen driver of the second vehicle was transported to Mark Reed hospital, while his 71-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The Puyallup woman was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia after the accident.

Their conditions were not available at press time.
