A Westport man is dead and two others were transported to the hospital after a crash about 15 miles south of Aberdeen on Highway 105 about 9:30 on Monday night.
Kevin Crnich, 49, of Westport was driving his 1978 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Highway 105 with 35-year-old Jana Edwards of McCleary as a passenger. According to the State Patrol, Crnich was driving without his lights on. Esther Smithlin, 81, of Yelm, was driving northbound when she allegedly tried to make a left turn across the southbound lane into a private residence. She struck the motorcycle and both Crnich and Edwards were thrown from the vehicle.
Edwards was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning. Smithlin was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Her condition was unavailable at press time.
The roadway was blocked for about three hours, troopers said, as the accident was being investigated. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the State Patrol.
