A wrong-way driver was struck by an Aberdeen Police car Thursday afternoon, blocking part of Wishkah Street for about an hour as police cleared the vehicles.
A 64-year-old Westport man was driving a Ford F150 pickup truck the wrong direction down Alder Street toward Wishkah when he entered the intersection at the same time as an Aberdeen Police officer, who was starting into the intersection on a green light. The truck collided with the officer’s car on the front passenger side.
The officer assisted the other driver, who was complaining of chest pain. The Aberdeen Fire Department arrived and treated and released the truck’s driver at the scene. The officer was checked at Grays Harbor Community Hospital for upper back pain after the scene was cleared.
A report will be filed for the City Attorney’s review.
