The Washington State Patrol is looking for the driver of a two-tone blue 1979 Chevrolet El-Camino suspected in a hit-and-run near Port Townsend June 29.
Troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 19 and Highway 20 at about 6:30 p.m. The victim vehicle, a green 1998 Honda Civic, was northbound on Hwy 19 and slowed for traffic ahead when the El-Camino is believed to have struck the Civic’s right rear with its left front.
The victim took a photo of the car as it fled, capturing the license plate, but police found the plate showed the car had been sold in 2003 with no new registered owner information.
The vehicle has a partially painted tailgate that is dark blue with light blue or light blue primer paint. There is a large sticker on the rear bumper that says INDEPENDENT. Anyone with information should call Trooper Chris Moon at 360-417-1738.
