Different cities around Grays Harbor have their own rules for when fireworks can be discharged around July 4. Some are more restrictive than others. Here’s a list of rules for different areas so you know how to celebrate within the law; state rules follow the list, so unless your city has more restrictive rules, those are the ones they go by. Unincorporated areas of the county follow state rules.
Aberdeen
Sale: 11 a.m. July 1 through 11 p.m. July 4
Discharge: 9 a.m. to midnight July 4 only
Special rules: No discharge in public places, including parks, sidewalks and streets.
Cosmopolis
Discharge: 9 a.m. to midnight July 4 only
Special rules: No discharge on public property.
Hoquiam
Discharge: 9 a.m. to midnight, July 3 and 4
Ocean Shores
Discharge: Noon to 11 p.m. July 2 and 3, noon to midnight July 4
Special rules: No discharge from decks or balconies, no discharge in or into the dunes, no firecrackers or bottle rocket-type fireworks, and all garbage and used fireworks must be disposed of properly.
Westport
Discharge: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 4
State rules
Sale: Noon to 11 p.m. June 28, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 29 through July 4
Discharge: Noon to 11 p.m. June 28, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 29 through July 3, 9 a.m. to midnight July 4, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 5.
