Big Bird a write-in on Cowlitz County ballots

LONGVIEW (AP) — Among the write-in names on election ballots in Cowlitz County this year were Big Bird and Dilbert’s Pointy Haired boss. Someone also thought “Sesame Street’s” Bert and Ernie should run the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Elections Supervisor Carolyn Myers told The Daily News joke write-ins are nothing new. Others getting votes were Donald Trump, Smokey Bear, and Honey Boo Boo.
