Bomb threat clears Forks court, city hall

FORKS — A Washington State Patrol bomb squad found no explosives at the Forks City Hall after a telephoned bomb threat prompted the evacuation of a court and city hall offices.

Trooper Russ Winger tells the Peninsula Daily News that a bomb technician X-rayed packages that had been delivered to the building. A bomb dog also checked the area.

Mayor Bryon Monohon says the threat was called in to the court at about 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The building also houses the city jail. Monohon says inmates and jail staff were not evacuated because of security concerns. The jail roster showed 38 people in custody Friday.
