A duck with a blow dart in its neck is seen on Lake Sacajawea near Longview on July 15. Longview Parks Supervisor Curt Nedved told The Daily News people have been calling the city since June 20 about the duck. Workers with the city and the Humane Society have tried multiple times to chase it down from one side of the lake to the other, and finally succeeded yesterday.
LONGVIEW (AP) — For more than a month people have been trying to help a duck on Lake Sacajawea near Longview that had a blow dart through its neck.
But the duck could still swim and fly and got away from everyone trying to capture it — until Tuesday.
The Daily News reports Longview Parks Supervisor Curt Nedved and two employees were able to nab the wily waterfowl in a fishing net.
Nedved had to pull out the dart himself because the duck was tangled in the net. The bird is being treated at Ocean Beach Animal Hospital.
