Fred Meyer saves Chehalis schools $8,400

The Fred Meyer Distribution Center saved the Chehalis School District more than $8,400 by delivering new language arts curriculum on Friday.

Shipping the new materials was going to cost the district $8,461, but Fred Meyer volunteered to pick the materials up in Portland and deliver them to W.F. West High School at no cost.

The Chehalis Rotarians, teachers, staff and community members stepped in to help unload 30 pallets of books from the 53-foot trailer.

“Everybody just showed up and took books to schools,” said Assistant Superintendent Mary Lou Bissett. “The community and staff support was just amazing.”
