No charges filed in ‘alarming’ Facebook post

The Camas Police Department will not seek charges against a Skyview parent who wrote a Facebook post in which he hoped someone would “shoot up” Camas High School “really soon.”

The post went live Tuesday night following a boys basketball game between Skyview and Camas. The post came on the heels of a verbal altercation between the parent, Jeffery R. Berni of Vancouver, and a group of Camas students.

Sgt. Scott Boyles of the Camas Police Department said the parent’s actions did not constitute an immediate threat.

“When you look at this case in particular, it doesn’t fit with any crimes on the books,” Boyles said, including cyberstalking and interfering with a school event.

Following the incident Tuesday night, parents said they were alarmed by the post.

The Camas and Vancouver school districts have banned the parent from their properties.
