Staffers for the state Public Disclosure Committee are recommending the dismissal of a campaign finance complaint filed by Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna against his Democratic rival.
McKenna had alleged that former Congressman Jay Inslee failed to properly report transfers and committed other violations. Inslee has been able to transfer some money from his federal account to his state account by getting permission from donors.
The staff recommendation report issued Friday said that all of the contributions cited by the McKenna campaign were eligible to be transferred, and that there was no evidence that the money was transferred without permission from donors. In addition to recommending dismissal of all allegations, PDC also recommended that the King County prosecutor take no further action. The commission will meet on Monday to consider the staff recommendation.
