Two shot after home invasion in Maple Valley

A Maple Valley man who was tied up while several people robbed his house Tuesday managed to shoot two intruders as they drove off, according to the King County Sheriff’s Department.

Spokeswoman Cindi West said a friend dropped by to visit the 38-year-old victim moments before a “team of home invasion robbers” forced their way inside, tied him up and assaulted him.

The robbers emptied the victim’s safe of multiple guns, drugs and money before fleeing.

The victim was able to free himself, grab a gun and run outside before the robbers sped away. He fired a handgun, striking at least two of the intruders.

Witnesses later told detectives they saw guns being thrown out of a speeding vehicle on a busy road.

A man was dropped off at a convenience store with a gunshot wound to the face and a woman drove herself to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the buttocks. West said both are believed to be involved in the home invasion.

Anyone with information in the incident is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s tip line at 206-263-2130.
