Video helps track down stolen Bremerton trailer

BREMERTON (MCT) — Video surveillance from neighboring businesses helped lead police to arrest a 48-year-old Bremerton man on suspicion of stealing a 30-foot travel trailer, according to Bremerton police reports.

Police were called Dec. 28 to a property on Wycoff Avenue, where a 30-foot travel trailer had been taken out of a fenced area.

Officers reviewed video surveillance footage from two businesses nearby and saw that the travel trailer had been towed away by a distinctive SUV, equipped with an after market antenna.

Police found the trailer at an E. Phinney Bay Road residence the same day as the theft and then spotted the SUV at a residence on Pearl Street the next day, Dec. 29.

At the Pearl Street residence a 48-year-old man said he’d had the SUV since Dec. 27, according to police reports. He’d borrowed it from someone, but didn’t know who, he told police. He denied stealing the travel trailer.

Police noted that the license plate tab on the SUV actually belonged to the travel trailer.

The 48-year-old was taken to the Kitsap County jail on suspicion of theft, with bail set at $25,000.
