Wash. police: woman stabbed in appliance dispute

LONGVIEW (AP) — Longview police say a dispute over ownership of a washer and dryer ended with one woman stabbed in the back and another under arrest.

Sgt. John Reeves says 51-year-old Laurie Welch of Longview was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault in the Tuesday morning stabbing of 48-year-old Linda Mahape, also of Longview.

Reeves says Mahape was treated at a local hospital and released. The officer tells The Daily News that Mahape visited a home for dinner and drinks Monday night but at some point an argument over the appliances turned into a scuffle.
