Hoquiam residents George and Madonna Renville marked their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday and are planning to celebrate it this summer with some trips.
George V. Renville married Madonna Mueck on Jan. 26, 1963, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Island, Ill. It was a double-ring ceremony with Madonna’s sister and her husband, Tom. Twenty-nine years earlier, their parents were married in a double-ring ceremony.
The Renvilles came to the Harbor in 1978 from South Dakota. They retired from the Department of the Interior with a combined 73 years of service. George received his master’s degree from the University of South Dakota and was the employment assistance officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. His wife worked for the Office of Trust Funds Management.
The Renvilles have eight children: Mike of Tacoma, Jerry of Sauk Rapids, Minn., Dacia Lackey of Bozeman, Mont., Denise of Hoquiam, Gabe of Kent, Greg of Clovis, Calif., and Garret of Kent. A son, Kevin, died in 1972.
They also have 10 grandchildren.
