Albert (Abby) Clayton Davis died on Saturday, June 16, 2012, in South Bend. He was 82. He was born on October 9, 1929 in South Bend, Washington, to Claude and Elizabeth (McBride) Shipley.
Abby graduated from South Bend High School, Class of 1947. He served in the U.S. Army SFC 231st Combat Battalion as an engineer during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He attended Washington State University and the University of Washington majoring in Engineering.
Abby moved to Olympia, Wash. in the 1970’s. He was employed by the Washington State Department of Highways as an engineer.
Abby was a life member of the Raymond Elks Club #1292, and was also a member of the American Legion and the South Bend Methodist Church.
He is survived by a brother, Jeffrey Davis of Raymond; a sister, Betty Jo Wicklund of Raymond; 1 grandchild and 2 great-grandchildren.
A private family inurnment at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
