Alden James Becker, 85, a longtime Menlo resident died Friday December 14, 2012, at his home in Menlo. He was born on December 21, 1926, in Plankinton, South Dakota to George J. and Marilda L. (Bilyue) Becker.
Alden married Delores A. Crandall on September 17, 1954, in Sunnyside, Wash. She preceded him in death in 2010. Together they had owned and operated The Menlo Store since August of 1969. Alden also was employed by Weyerhaeuser for 19 years while operating the store in Menlo.
Alden enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Raymond Eagles and a past member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by a daughter, Kay Becker of Lebam; a sister-in-law, Vicky Gall of Orting, Wash.; three grandsons, James (Amber) Smith of Port Orchard, Kyle Smith of Tenino and Lane Smith of Menlo. Alden is also survived by two great grandchildren, Carter and Madalyn Smith of Port Orchard; and a niece and nephew, Crystal Plantenberg and Bryon Gall both of Orting, Wash.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo where he will be beside his wife, Delores. Full Military Honors will be accorded. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary in Raymond.
