Alice Ditz, a lifelong Harbor resident, died Monday, December 10, 2012, in Aberdeen. She was 81. Alice was born January 8, 1931, in Raymond to Pete and Ethel (Camenzind) Karitis. Alice grew up in Raymond and is a graduate of Raymond High School’s Class of ‘49. Alice married Don Ditz on June 11, 1955 in Raymond. He survives her at their Central Park Home.
She was a switchboard operator for Pacific Northwest Bell and the Head Cashier at Grays Harbor County Treasurer’s office. Alice was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church Choir, Altar Society and Prayer Chain.
Alice loved working outdoors, gardening and flowers, especially dahlias. She had quite the green thumb and made beautiful flower arrangements. She loved the beach, woods and rivers, mushroom and blackberry picking. She also enjoyed watching baseball, football and basketball and going to Arizona for spring training. She loved her pets, family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, Don; Alice is survived by her sons, Dan of Elma and Dave of Hoquiam. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ethel Karitis.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Montesano. A graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Johns Alter Society.
