Anthony “Tony” C. Basich, age 83, of Ocean Park, Washington, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012, at Mark Reed Hospital in McCleary, Washington.
Born on February 9, 1929, in Aberdeen, Wash., Tony was the son of Mike and Sylvia (Mohorich) Basich. After graduating from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, Tony joined the US Navy and served on the U.S.S. Helena during the Korean War.
Tony married Beverly Ann Middleton on March 21, 1964, in Seattle, Wash. After her passing on May 8, 1992, he married Roberta Mary Jacobs in Kissimee, Fla. on December 23, 1993.
Tony was retired from Boeing where he had worked as a machinist before moving into management. He was a Seattle Seahawks fan and also enjoyed the Huskies. Playing golf and dancing with his wife were some of his favorite past-times, and of course spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. Then there’s his beloved dog Annie (the golden retriever).
Tony was a proud member of the VFW and the Eagles in Ocean Park.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Basich; daughters, Debra (Garry) Foster, Gigi (Gary) Waymack, Toni Diaz and Marci (Robin Bosler) Basich; son, Michael (Michele) Basich; step-daughters, Becky Firth and Caroline Barrs; step-sons, Gary (Donell) Firth, Charles Firth and Dan Firth; a brother, Peter Basich; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; his brother, Robert Basich; his sister, Mary Olson; and his sister-in-law, Marianne Basich.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the Log Pavilion, 1401 Sargent Blvd, Aberdeen. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or Lewey Body Foundation.
