Bette Darlene Ward Stone Giesey, age 76, passed away in Redmond, Washington, on May 16, 2013. She was born on January 4, 1937, in Enumclaw, Washington, to Gale Bascom (Bud) Ward and Doris Virginia Weaver Ward. After growing up in the Enumclaw and Portland areas, Bette attended Hoquiam High School, graduating in 1954. Bette married Gordon Stone and settled in Aberdeen, Wash. to raise their family. In 1971, Bette and the family moved to Bellevue, Wash. Gordon and Bette were divorced in 1978. In 1982, Bette married Glenn Giesey to whom she remained devoted until her death.
Bette enjoyed vacations in Maui and fishing trips to Ross Lake with Glenn and their friends. She was an avid quilter, making beautiful quilts for each member of the family. Bette had a wonderful, personal relationship with each of her grandchildren.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Philip Ward and Larry Ward. She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn; her three sons, Mike (Glenda), Terry (Bertha), and Steve (Melody); her daughter, Lynne Alfe (Mike); ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and stepsons, Randy and Steve.
A memorial gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 2, 2013, at Redmond Senior Center at 8703 160th Ave. NE in Redmond, Wash. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Homeward Pet Adoption Center, Woodinville, Wash. A guestbook has been set up at http://www.mem.com.
