Betty Jo Reynolds Brumfield, age 81, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Anita Coolidge in Olympia, Washington. She was born June 19, 1931, in Savoy, Texas to Marcie Dees Nevoit Reynolds and Roy (George) Reynolds.
She met Denny Delbert Brumfield of Montesano, Washington when he returned from serving in World War II. They married in November of 1946 and moved to Montesano, Washington. They spent their entire married life in Montesano except for a few years spent in a logging camp at Lake Ozette, Washington .
After raising six children Betty enrolled in Grays Harbor College and received a Licensed Practical Nurse degree graduating as valedictorian of her class in 1969. She worked as a nurse from 1969 until she was 74 years old. Betty retired from Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation in Aberdeen.
She is survived by a sister, Bonita Hutchins and a nephew, Elbert Clem Hutchins of Amarillo, Texas; and her children, Randall Brumfield, Lela Southard, Lisa Tagman, Forrest Brumfield, of Montesano, and Anita Coolidge of Olympia. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Brumfield on September 3, 1976; and her husband Denny on October 31, 2000.
She will be remembered for her crocheting, sewing, and canning of winter supplies. Betty will be fondly remembered for her faithful service to her charges in the nursing profession.
Betty was a member of the Church of Christ in Central Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Church of Christ, 5121 Olympic Highway, Aberdeen, Washington 98520. Cards of condolence may be sent there sent there too. Her ashes will be interned in Savoy, Texas at her request.
