Lifelong Aberdeen resident Bonnie Wiitamaki Giron passed away at Grays Harbor Community Hospital on Friday, August 16, 2013. Bonnie was born November 25, 1929, in Aberdeen to M. William and T. Norma (Lepisto) Wiitamaki. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1947.
Bonnie had worked at the family jewelry store since she was in the seventh grade; working 6 days a week until last December.
She had several cherished friends for over 70 years; they celebrated birthdays and had Christmas parties together for many years.
Bonnie loved knitting and had made hundreds of pairs of slippers every year for the mitten tree at Anchor Bank; as well as giving many away to customers at the jewelry store.
Bonnie is survived by her loving family, sons, Frank (Mary) Hermsen and Mike (Diane) Giron of Aberdeen; daughters, Sherri (Kenny) Hughes of Aberdeen and Peggy (Rich) Klinger of Montesano; her sister, Elaine Hornby of Centralia; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, in the chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary located at 311 W. Market St. in Aberdeen.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Grays Harbor Foursquare Church located at 4800 Central Park Drive. There will be an optional potluck following the service.
Memorials are suggested to the Anchor Bank Mitten Tree or charity of your choice.
