Brian Arthur “Limey” Dale, 71 years of age and a longtime Hoquiam, Washington area resident, died on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. He was born on February 3, 1941, in Kent, England to Albert James and Irene Maude (Bland) Dale.
Brian attended school in Gravesend, England and following his schooling he worked as a dock hand along the Thames River.
On October 7, 1968, he was married to Gwendoline Sicily Hurr in London, England. The couple moved from England to Hoquiam, Washington in 1974 where he had since resided.
Brian worked for Lakeside and for Rognlins’ as a flagger until he retired in 2003 at the age of 62. He was a member of the Laborer’s Union Local #252.
He liked to go hunting, fishing and camping.
Brian is survived by a daughter, Lynn Dale of Hoquiam; a brother, Bunny Dale of Gravesend, England; his sisters, Eileen and Hilda both of Gravesend, England; two grandchildren, Jimmy Anderson and Karon Anderson; two nephews and their wives, Chris and Shari Hyde of Hoquiam as well as Steve and April Hyde of Aberdeen. His extended family includes nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Brian was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendoline S. Dale who died on August 9, 2003; two sons, David Dale and Lee Dale; as well as a brother, Ernie also preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 26, 2012, at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, 400 East First Street in Aberdeen, Washington.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
