Carl L. Mahan, 78, a longtime Raymond resident died on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Fir Lane Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shelton. He was born October 9, 1934, in Longmont, Colorado to Russell and Bertha Mahan. He married Laura T. Porter on May 5, 1986, in Longmont, Colorado.
Carl served in the Marine Corps. during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after 14 years. He went on to become a professional long haul truck driver.
Carl was a life member and past commander of V.F.W. Post #968, a life member of the American Veterans Post #896, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the American Legion Post #150. When he was able, he enjoyed going down every day having a beer with his comrades.
Special thanks go to his caregiver Lacey Bowen of South Bend. Carl is survived by a daughter, Katherine Mauck and two sons, James and Carl Lynn Mahan all of Longmont, Colorado; also a special brother-in-law, John Hubbard of Raymond and special friend, Bob Coty of Raymond. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, in 2003. They are inurned together at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at the American Legion Post #150 with full military honors to follow.
