Lifelong Aberdeen resident Carolyn E. (Garbe) Sidor, 83, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Pacific Care Center. Carolyn was born September 1, 1929, in Aberdeen to William and Catherine Mae Garbe. She was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1947.
She married Walter E. Sidor in Aberdeen and they had five children.
Carolyn worked at Harbor Hardware, and was a manager for AAA until her retirement. She was one of the original founders of Grays Harbor Mental Health Services and was also on the local mental health board. Carolyn was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Business & Professional Women. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter; her sons, William (Kris) Sidor, Stanley Sidor, Charles (Teresa) Sidor, Joseph (Jean) Sidor and daughter, Ann (Russ) Whittington; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A memorial reception will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th at the Cosmopolis Lions Club located at 601 2nd Street. A private graveside inurnment will take place at Fern Hill Cemetery.
