Cecil Ray Yates of Shelton, Washington passed away at the age of 62 on Thursday, February 28, 2013. Cecil was born February 26, 1951, in Aberdeen, to Cecil R. and Colleen (Ferguson) Yates. He grew up in Pacific Beach, Washington and graduated from Moclips High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving in both Vietnam and the Gulf Wars, and retired after serving 20 years. He was presently employed at Simpson Door Company, in McCleary, Wash.
Cecil enjoyed his 3 dogs, playing his guitar, singing and traveling with his wife. Cecil married Gail Volheim Gallegos on July 7, 1984, in Oceanside, California. In addition to his wife, Gail, Cecil is survived by his grandson, Dilon Hagedorn of Redmond, Oregon; stepson, James (Rita) Gallegos of Monroe, Washington; stepdaughters, Heather (Travis) Kaufman of Virginia, Regina (Aaron) Greer of Virginia and Trisha Smith of Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Chloe (John) Taylor of Moclips, Washington and Candy (Wayne) Baker of Carson City, Nevada; several grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Tami Yates Hagedorn on December 11, 2009 at the age of 33.
Cecil was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed.
At his request there will not be a formal service. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the VFW in Hoquiam.
