Charles “Chuck” Pollock

Longtime Harbor physician Charles “Chuck” Pollock passed away after a brief illness and went to be with the Lord. He was born on July 22, 1926, in Davenport, Iowa. He was the third and youngest child of Nina and Joseph Pollock. At the age of 17 he joined the Navy where he served on LST landing crafts in World War II. At war’s end, he completed his GED then used the GI Bill to obtain a degree in pharmacy and, later, medicine.

When recalled into Naval service in Bremerton, he met and courted Loree Wallace. They later married while he attended medical school. Following graduation, Chuck and Loree moved back to Washington state and, eventually, settled in Grays Harbor in 1961 where Chuck served as a family physician to many and together they raised a family.

Chuck was a long-time promoter of the Grays Harbor area and was an advocate to expand the scope of medical and specialty care available on the Harbor. He also served on the board of the Covenant Church and the Historical Seaport among other organizations in Aberdeen.

Chuck was preceded in death by both his parents; his brother, Tom; sister, Barbara; his wife, Loree; and sons, Doug and Scott.

He is survived by children, Susan (and Keith) Fichter, Todd (and Diane) Pollock, Tammi (and Jim) MacFarlane, and Kent Pollock; as well as granddaughters, Andrea and Stephanie Hamre, Kara Pollock, and Adaya and Naomi Pollock.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Harbor Covenant Church in Aberdeen at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
