Charlotte Ruth Craven, 77 years of age, died on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at her home in Hoquiam, Washington. She was born on December 1, 1935, in Redding, California to Henry and Pearl (Savage) Gibson. She was raised and attended school in Oakland and various cities in Northern California.
Charlotte Ruth Gibson was married to Virgil R. Craven in January of 1956 in Reno, Nevada. He died on March 14, 1999.
They resided in the Oakland area prior to moving to Neilton in 1978 and then to Hoquiam in 1998.
She had worked as a cook at the Smoke Shop, at Swansons and then Channel Point Village where she retired in March of 2011. She was a very active member of the Red Hat Ladies. Crafting and beading were important to her, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Charlotte is survived by her two sons, Loyd Craven of Redding, California and Lennie McLain of Knights Landing, California; three daughters, Sandy Teuscher of Selah, Washington, Cyndie Johnson of Hoquiam, Washington and Candy Dove of Wheatland, California; seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Irma Conrad of Paradise, California and one brother, Frank McPhearson of Walla Walla, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She loved taking care of her dogs, Ladybug, Spuds and Ginger.
Private inurnment will be held in the Hoquiam Sunset Memorial Park.
A gathering of family and friends will he held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the family home in Hoquiam.
