David Berry Fries, 60, Aberdeen resident and former cook at Duffy’s Restaurant, died on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at his home in Aberdeen.
David was born on April 26, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington to Fred and Patricia Jane (Berry) Fries. He graduated from Lakes High School in Tacoma, Class of 1972. He attended Steilacoom Community College for a year.
He moved to Montesano in 1975 and then to Aberdeen.
David was a cook for the Aberdeen Sambo’s Restaurant form 1975 to 1979 and then for Sea Galley in Hoquiam for 1979 to 1982. He then went to work for Duffy’s for 17 years form 1982 to 1999.
On November 15, 1980, David married Lynne R. Duncan at her parents’ home in Wishkah. She resides at the family home.
For the last 12 years, David has been a cook for Foss Maritime in Tacoma on many of their tugs, the last couple of years on the Barbara Foss.
David is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lynne Fries; a son, Aaron Fries of Aberdeen; two daughters, Angela Fries of Hoquiam and Roxanne Fries of Aberdeen; and granddaughter, Alyvea Rasmussen of Hoquiam.
There will be a celebration of David’s life at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Fern Hill Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow the service at Duffy’s.
