Helen A. Smith

Helen Ann Smith, a 72-year resident of the Harbor, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Aberdeen. She was 90.

She had worked for the phone company and then for Grays Harbor Paper, retiring in 1959.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Cosmopolis.

Arrangements are by the Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Robert Mink

Robert R. Mink, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. He was 80.

He had worked at a local plywood mill, Grays Harbor Chair Factory and from 1965 to 1980 as a light equipment operator at Sunset Memorial Park.

A private interment will be held at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

John Thompson Jr.

John Thompson Jr. of Aberdeen died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. He was 89.

Arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.

Getrude P. “Trude” Litera

Gertrude Paula “Trude” Litera died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was 89.

She had worked as a fashion designer in her younger years and was a watercolor artist. A full obituary will appear later in The Daily World.

Arrangements are by the Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.

Vincent P. “Mack” Mcelwee

LAKE QUINAULT — Vincent Paul “Mack” Mcelwee of Lake Quinault died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at his home. He was 89.

There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Quinault Cemetery with a reception to be held at the Rain Forest Resort following the graveside service.

Arrangements are by the Whiteside Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.

Peter Bakotich

Longtime Harborite Peter Bakotich died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. He was 92.

He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1940.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and with the Marine Corps Reserves for 25 years.

He worked for the Aberdeen Fire Department for 27 years, retiring in 1973.

Donations are suggested to the Aberdeen Fire Department Memorial Fund, 700 West Market Street, Aberdeen 98520.

A private graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam. Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
