Dick Douglass passed away on February 24, 2013, after a brief illness. He was 63. Dick was born in Aberdeen to Charles and Donna (Balow) Douglass on October 4, 1949. He attended J.M. Weatherwax High School, Class of 1968. He joined the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country in Vietnam.
Dick worked at Swanson’s and Aaro Medical Supply. He enjoyed hunting and fishing while living in Grays Harbor. He and Joni, his wife of 35 years, moved to Sonoma, California, where they enjoyed the wine country. Later they moved to Bakersfield. Dick was the manager of National Seating and Mobility as a rehab technology supplier. He took great pride in building specialized wheelchairs to help his clients, especially the children. He retired in 2010.
Dick is survived at the family home by his wife, Joni. Survivors living in Grays Harbor are: a son, Rich (Colleen) Fargo; siblings, Steve (Debbie) Douglass, David (Cathy) Douglass, Chuck Douglass, Kathy (Ted) Twigg, John Cribbs, (Donna) Douglass; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Douglass. Lastly, Dick will be missed by his family pets, 3 dogs and 5 parrots.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Wynooche Cemetery in Montesano. Reception to follow at the Monte Moose.
