Dixie Lee (Lang) Yuly, 72, of Ocean Shores, Washington passed away at home on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on June 29, 2013, (the Saturday nearest Dixie’s birthday) at North Bay Park in Ocean Shores.
Dixie was born in Sisseton, South Dakota on June 25, the youngest of 16 children to Fred and Cora Lang.
Dixie was married to Donald LeRoy Yuly on November 18, 1955; they were married 57 years.
Dixie worked as a grocery clerk for Albertsons for over 35 years, where she was well known for the colorful and creative costumes she wore on holidays, her friendly smile, and the many crafts she made and gave freely to her friends, family, and customers. As a grocery clerk, she personally raised many thousands of dollars for Muscular Dystrophy research, and represented Albertsons on the annual Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy telethon on TV in honor of her dedication and achievement.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Don Yuly; daughter, Christian; and sons, Shane and Rudy. She is also survived by brothers, Fred, Gordon, and Jack Lang; 7 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives from the very large Yuly and Lang families. She will also be missed by many, many friends in Kirkland, Ocean Shores, and Mesa, Ariz. where she and Don spent many winters as snowbirds.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dixie’s name may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
