Don Thomas Peters of McCleary died Monday, November 12, 2012, while hunting near Helena, Montana. He was 59. Don was born November 3, 1953, in Olympia to Robert Thomas Peters and Marian Ferguson. Don married Valerie Ann Bandy on May 5, 1994. He was employed at Muckleshoot Indian Tribe as a Tribal Gaming Agent. He retired as a Deputy Sheriff from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office in 2004. He previously worked in law enforcement at Elma, Rainier and Olympia Police Departments. Don was a very private and passionate person. He loved classic cars, hunting, fishing, horse racing, spending time with his grandchildren, family and his dogs. He will be dearly missed.
Don is survived by his wife, Valerie Peters of the family home. He is also survived by his children, Tami Normand (Guy), Steven Peters (Angela), Kaleb Mathews, Jenny Peters, Christopher Eggers (Lisa), Jesse Eggers (Jessica), Alethea Pyhala (Eric), Robin Spencer (Kevin) and Jason Eggers. Don is also survived by his sisters, Faye Olson (Jeff), Catherine Plante and Laura Burgess; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gale Swigart.
Memorial services will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at New Bridge Community Church, 812 Central Street SE, Olympia, WA 98501. Public parking is available on 10th Avenue and Central Street.
