Edward A. Koepp, 85 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. Ed was born on June 3, 1928, in Bridgewater, South Dakota to Willie and Marie (Porath) Koepp.
Ed attended school in Bridgewater and following his schooling he worked in a local grocery store. In 1950, he was married to Shirrel J. Shay in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Following their marriage they lived in Canistota, South Dakota where Ed worked on a farm and tended bar. In 1959, they moved to Hoquiam, Washington.
After coming to Hoquiam he had worked for different plywood mills until he went to work for Sears in 1963. After 30 years at Sears, in the home improvement department, he retired in 1989. Ed was selected to the Sears Hall of Fame in 1975 and Best of the Best Employee of the Year in 1987.
Ed was an avid bowler for years, enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and clam digging. He liked to travel and go on cruises.
Ed was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and had served as an Elder, Trustee, Usher and belonged to the OWLS (Older Wiser Lutherans).
Besides his wife, Shirrel, Ed is survived by his daughters, Roxanne (Harvey) Engler of Hoquiam and Nikki (Rick) Fielitz of Granite Bay, California; a son, Todd (Erin) Koepp of Billings, Montana; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brianna Koepp; his parents; and a brother.

A celebration of his life was held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Aberdeen with Pastor Luke Kastner officiating. Concluding services, interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam.
