Effie L. Worthington, a longtime Raymond resident passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia; she was 85. She was born March 24, 1927, in Portland, Oregon, to Michael and Marie (Kehrli) Frutiger.
Effie married Harry Victor Worthington in 1947 in Portland, Oregon; he preceded her in death in 1980. She worked until her retirement for Dairygold in Portland making ice cream. In 1986, she moved to the Willapa Harbor area to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter. She was very devoted to her family. Effie enjoyed caring for her yard and liked to have a cup of coffee on the swing in the backyard. She loved music and playing the accordion, family members cherish memories of getting together where she and Diane played, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a daughter, Christine (Dennis) Brabon; a granddaughter, Dawn Brabon; and 2 great-grandchildren, Alexis and Victor Hood, all of Raymond. Effie is also survived by a sister, Catherine Imhof of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Frutiger and sister, Helen Bigelow.
Per her request there will be no memorial services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Raymond Ambulance Fund or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are in care of Stoller’s Mortuary, Raymond, Wash.
