Eleanor Margaret Hiles of Montesano passed away on December 27, 2012, at the age of 86. She was born on August 28, 1926 in Galvin, Washington to Erskine and Helen (Carter) Van De Wall. She was a graduate of Elma High School.
She married her husband of 69 years, Lawrence, on June 28, 1943. Together they raised five children and parented numerous foster children.
Eleanor was a seamstress and was employed by Mary’s Draperies in Montesano for many years prior to owning and operating her own drapery shop During those years, she contracted with Hanson’s Furniture Store in Hoquiam, along with making custom draperies for many Grays Harbor homes.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. She enjoyed trailer camping with the Blue Pacific Good Sam Club and playing card and board games.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ralph. She leaves behind her husband, Lawrence; her children, Herbert (Nancy) Hiles, Craig (Georgette) Hiles, Douglas (Lisa) Hiles, all of Elma, Corinne (Al) Neeley of Frankton, Ind. and Linda (Lowell) Williams of Cathlamet, Wash.; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be no service. Those who wish to honor her may do so with a contribution to the Montesano Fire Department, 310 East Pioneer Avenue, Montesano, WA 98563.
