Ericka Nickolle Richards

Ericka Nickolle Richards was born on August 15, 1988. She passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, very unexpectedly at Sacred Heart Medical Hospital in Spokane, Washington. She was 24 years old.

She leaves behind her adorable 4 year old son, Gavin Max. Her mother and step-father, Teresa and Sam Taylor; her father and step-mother, Dave and Mary Richards; fiancé, Danny Hensley as well as his parents, Ernie & Kristi Hensley; brothers and sisters, Jason, April, Cameron and Ayanna. Ericka was blessed with an abundance of love from grandparents Sid & Janice Strong, Kristi & Bill Nelson, Andy & Peggy Tyler, & great-grandmother, Goldie Palmer; and many uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ericka was also very blessed to have had the best godmother anyone could’ve dreamed of in Suzanne Tuffs-Bradley.

Ericka graduated high school at Clover Park College in Lakewood, Wash. with honors. She attended Grays Harbor College as well as Pierce College.

Ericka met her fiancé, Danny, while going to high school in Aberdeen. She moved over to Spokane, Wash. in of March 2011. She worked as an Energy Analyst at Ecova, where she loved her job and helped save her clients money. Ericka and Danny were planning a summer wedding at his family’s farm in Grays Harbor.

Ericka was very passionate about donating blood, as well as participating in the Grays Harbor Relay For Life Cancer Walk, as her stepmother is a cancer survivor. She always wanted to give back to those in need and often volunteered her time and money to other families, her neighbors, and her co-workers. Ericka loved to cook and bake. She glowed in the kitchen and always refused to follow a recipe since she loved to experiment with new ideas. Ericka was so passionate about baking she wanted to open a bakery so she could experiment with and share her new ideas with as many people as possible. Ericka also loved spending time with Danny and Gavin and would enjoy going for hikes, trying new restaurants, baking together, and swimming.

Ericka was loved by so many and she touched so many lives. We are going to have a “Special Day” Celebration of Life at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, Wash. at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Please bring your favorite food dish and share your favorite memories of Ericka. We are going to have LOTS of cupcakes, and balloons as Gavin wants to have Mommy’s special day with all of her favorite things.
