Everett Neil Wadsworth, a longtime resident of Grays Harbor died on Saturday, February 2, 2013.
Everett was born in Warren, Minnesota on March 5, 1926, to Everett and Lela (Boyce) Wadsworth.
His family moved to Kapowsin, Washington in 1938. He graduated from Roy High School in 1944. On August 12, 1944, he married Caroline Sarti. Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Navy to serve his country during World War II.
In 1947, Everett began his grocery career working for Safeway in Tacoma and by 1950 was promoted to manager. In 1952, he accepted the position of Store Manager for Safeway in Montesano. In 1962, he purchased Thriftway in Aberdeen with a local partner. In 1967, he sold his interest in Thriftway to purchase Linkshire Market and Mobile Home Park. Everett purchased three more stores in Centralia, Chehalis, and Eatonville and then sold them in 1981. He continued to operate Linkshire Market and Mobile Home Park until closing Linkshire Market in 2000. In 2004, he retired after many years as a successful businessman.
Everett enjoyed golfing and bowling and in his later years enjoyed playing cards and visiting his friends at the VFW in Montesano. He bowled for many years on a team in Montesano that once competed in the nationals in Reno, Nev. During high school he played football, basketball, tennis, and baseball. He was well-loved and known in the community as a kind and generous man. He was a member of the Eagles and the Elks Lodge in Aberdeen and served on the Montesano Chamber of Commerce. His children and grandchildren were very special to him and he enjoyed sharing holidays and birthdays with them.
He is survived by his former wife, Caroline Langeliers; his daughter, Nancy (husband, Merle) Fellows; sons, Patrick (wife, Pam), James (wife, Hanna), Steve, and Paul; grandsons, Dominick and Mitchell Wadsworth, Samuel Jaramillo; and granddaughters, Ester Wadsworth and Brittney Trotter.
Everett was preceded in death by his six siblings; and a son, Neil John Wadsworth.
