Florence “Rosalee” Nicholson, a lifelong Grays Harbor resident, passed-away on Monday, April 22, 2013, at home in McCleary with family at her side. Rosalee was born August 31, 1938, in McCleary to Archie and Eva “Madge” (Holman) Winslow. She grew up and attended school in McCleary and Elma.
Rosalee married Larry Ray Nicholson on August 21, 1954, at the United Pentecostal Church in McCleary. He survives her at the family home. Except for a few months that she lived in Long Beach, California while Larry was in the service; she spent her life in McCleary.
In addition to being a homemaker, Rosalee worked at the Olympic Christian Center and Academy and was involved in custodial work at businesses in McCleary and Elma. Rosalee also took care of her mother for many years, enjoyed sewing, cooking, and making things for her family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter who adored her great-grandchildren and the love and adoration was reciprocated by everyone. She was known for her sweet, gentle spirit and calling everyone “Kid”. Rosalee also enjoyed supporting and caring for Olympic Christian Center serving as Secretary, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher as well as many other positions in the church.
Along with her husband, Larry; Rosalee is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Art) Sanders of Wenatchee and Pam (Jerry) Donnelly of McCleary; grandchildren, Jennifer (Reed) Courtney, Rachelle Sanders, Jessin (Babette) Donnelly and Jerae (Dan) Vandevender; and great-grandchildren, Haidan and Kamille Vandevender, Kylan Courtney and Jenica and Landon Camacho. She is also survived by her sister, Wynona Kearney of Tumwater, brother, Virgil Winslow of McCleary, sister, Phyllis Bagwell of Pleasant Hill, Oregon and brother, Archie (Vicki) Winslow of Pocatello, Idaho. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and family members whom she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Larry Ray Nicholson Jr. who died at birth in June of 1964. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the family at P.O. Box 412, McCleary, Wash. 98557 who will disperse the funds to special missionary projects.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Olympic Christian Center in McCleary. Interment will be at McCleary Cemetery.
